A few weeks ago I attended a Veet event for the EasyWax Electrical Roll On Kit held at the new Trump Hotel in Toronto.

It was a fun event and guests enjoyed hair and makeup mini makeovers (I had my makeup done by Jessica Jean Myers who enlightened my makeup know-how with “defined brows”), sweet goodies, a Marilyn Munroe impersonator, and a performance by Lights.

I had a great time hanging out with Elaine from Toronto Beauty Reviews, Lisa Marie from Beauty Crazed and Monica from Beauty Parler.

Vaughan Mills New Media Challenge + Contest

Last weekend I participated in the Vaughan Mills New Media Challenge.

We boarded the Vaughan Mills shopping shuttle which offers a morning and afternoon pick-up service from Union Station in Toronto. The service runs from May 1st up until September 30 every year. It was a very comfortable bus ride and much more convenient than taking the TTC all the way to Vaughan.

The food for the event was provided by Urban Source Creative Catering. We were treated to a “brunch box” filled with yummy breakfast goodies.

The challenge was to search for a thrilling fashion find for under $100 and we had an hour to shop. We then had 60 seconds to explain why our item was such a great fashion find. The event was judged by the Style Agents, Janette Ewen and Afiya Francisco.

My strategy in the beginning was to stick to one store and assemble a complete outfit. That quickly went out the door. There were sooo many stores and items to choose from. In the end I ended up at Michael Kors and H&M.

I found a beautiful pebbled leather purse in a beautiful gun-metal shade from Michael Kors on sale for $60 and a couple of fun necklaces at H&M for under $20 a piece.

*Special thanks to the ladies at Michael Kors, they helped me pick out the purse and they were super nice!

All the participants found such AMAZING deals. We were all oohing and aahing everyone’s finds. I did not take home the grand prize but I had a fantastic time at the event and I met so many great people and I get to hold a contest for the fabulous readers of The Cheap Girl Canada
